Mancat Mentor Monday – Cleanliness is next to fabulousness

Monday, December 28, 2009

In today’s lesson for my girlfriend Tama-Chan’s boy babies, I am going to talk about the importance of good grooming. Because the boys are blessed with sexy slinky fur, you might think that this will be a relatively short lesson, and one that surely that Mama Tama is teaching them. But no, for I am going to teach about the importance of washing and how it can get you further in life.

Not only does regular washing keep your furs looking nice and shiny, but it also helps keep you limber and bendy. Also, if you do it right, you can look very cute and get a bit of extra human attention. Let me demonstrate…

It is very impawtant to keep your boybits and bum clean, but be careful when you do this. I made the mistake of giving myself a good clean ‘down there’ and had completely forgotten that I was being filmed at the time for a TV show. Thank goodness they didn’t air that bit, as I would never have lived it down.

Washing is also a chance to show friends and family how much you care for them. I always make a point of giving Noggin a wash on her head whenever she comes over, as a way of welcoming her.

The ladycats love a mancat who is sensitive enough to give her a nice groom, so this is always a good move to pull when wooing a lady cat. Humans also love to see cats washing each other, and we all know that the more you can melt a human’s heart, the more you’ll rule the roost.

Here’s a great demonstration from Heads (who is the boyfriend of Tails from Pet Mag, who did a wonderful demo a few weeks ago about woofie snuggling) who is giving his baby girl Bella a wash in this video. Listen to the noises that your beans make as they watch this video. If you hear those noises when you’re trying it out, you know you’re doing something right!

A very important lesson, but we’re pretty sure that Tama-Mama is on top of it.

Excellent tips, even for a ladycat.

Good advice Misha! We take LOTS of baths here and have discovered that washing your bum while Momma has the camera out will make her “harumph” and put the camera away!

Your fur looks so sleek, Misha, you must be doing something very right.

The video of Heads and Bella is terribly squee.

You certainly are a good teacher! You should write a book on cat etiket! Yes, the sounds from humans are a good indicator if you are doing something “right”…

Ok, I’m gonna get in trouble for this…but Misha, could you teleport over here and give my brother Nigel a lesson in cleaning his ::blush:: manbits and bum? He keeps wondering why my momma Ellie hasn’t fallen head over heals in love yet…and it’s…because of his stinky bum. Mom is about to call in a professional groomer.

All too true, my Misha. But we have a long way to go still at this end. Grooming lessons are only just getting under way. For now, they are teething and seem to be spending their time biting their toes, and one another…

Purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrs,

Again, kudos to the photographer who caught you in such a cute meow-ment. I try to wash my mom’s hair sometimes but she has REALLY long human hair so I never get more than 1 or 2 licks in.

I give big brother a head wash, as a mark of respect (also it helps him not notice so much that I eat all his food and treats)
