Toysday – Binky Mats

You’ve probably all heard of Boogie Mats (and many of you probably have one) – it’s basically a mat that you fill with catnip. We’ve been wanting one of these, but Mummy is very particular about her decor and said that the Boogie Mat designs were not going to work with the look.

So, when we came across an Etsy store called STUFF, she could argue no longer. STUFF makes cat toys from groovy retro fabrics, including Binky Mats – the catnip mat for the style-conscious kitty! Mummy has a bit if a retro vibe going on in our lounge, so these look perfect in our place and don’t obviously look like a cat accessory (apart from all the floof on it!).

I’m a big fan of handmade cat toys and one of the really nice things about the collection is that every piece is unique as they only has a small amount of each fabric design (Stacey from STUFF sources rare and out of print fabrics for her pieces).

Binky Mats come in 2 sizes – Cub size (for kittens) and Tiger (for grown ups). There’s a great range of fabric designs to choose from and they’re always changing, so it’s worth popping back to the Etsy shop to see what the new designs are. All the fabrics are cotton or a cotton/linen mix (we kittehs like our natural fibres) and the mat is sewn with cotton batting for padding. There are a few bells sewn securely into the corner for when you want to get a little frisky on your Binky Mat and no cat mat would be complete without a compartment to put in some fresh nip (Binky Mats come with organic catnip)!

I bought this for Cosmo for her birthday and she loved it straight away, but since Noggin has been staying she has been glued to it and Cosmo doesn’t want to use it now ‘cos it smells like Noggin. These are machine washable, so after her holiday here is over I’ll think we’ll have to de-Noggin it for Cosmo!

At least I know what to get Noggin for Christmas!
